Bishop Conrad School, Bareilly

I joined Bishop Conrad in class II when my father was transferred to Bareilly. My friends here were Amit Modi, Puneet Arora, Sachin Mehta ( I last met him at NDA for 5 minutes in January 95), Vikas Sharma, Amit Agarwal, Subhash, Mohit Gupta, Mehvash ( he is no longer alive ! )...... Unfortunately I am not in touch with any of these guys except for Amit.........

Here the teacher whom I remember the most was Shalini mam, my class teacher in Grade IV... though she remained in the school just for a year ( she got married after that went) she helped me develop my self-confidence... In Bareilly we generally played Sapoilia in the interval ( a game where you place 7 pebbles on top of each other, hit them with a ball 7 try to place them on top of each other again while the other team tries to hit you with a ball ...) this continued for round 5 years ... In Bishop I acquired the tag of a Scientist ... for my science talk & making working models of things like Crane, Car etc

There were others too .... Swati , Shelly Singh, Renu Thakur, Urvashi Gupta, Gurpreet, Humaun.... I don't know where are all these people today but where ever they are I just want to tell them that I had good time with you people....

St. Aloysius

I joined St Aloysius in class VIII in the summer of 1989. But it was not the first time I joined the school. In fact i started my education from St aloysius (the small building at Ashok Colony ) only & I remained there till class I (1983) when my dad was transferred to Bareilly. More than half of my family was already studing there ... Moreover Rashmi was also there ..... So the anxiety of joing a new palce was not there.

The first persons I came across in school were Sandeep, Sharad, Sachin Goel (Golu), Rahel, Pankaj, Nishant, Nitin, Saurabh Singh. They asked my % in class VII , which i quite conviniently inflated by a couple of points, after which they declared that I was a competitor & included me in their gang.

The time I spent at St. Aloysius was unarguably the best time of my school life.....

This was the first time when studies were not merely studies .... they were fun.... I was actually studying because our group was so competitive & teachers were so encouraging.... No surprise that all the top positions were occupied by our gang.... Be it Rani mam's English class where writing those 100 words essays ( which came in class 10 boards) & writing them so well that you were given an opportunity to read them was a major prestige issues .... but whatever we did we could never beat Tanushree Chatterjee... whose command over english was absolutely amazing.... when we used hyperbolic words searched from dictionary she would use simple words to great effect... & when we tried to use simple language she would come out with something which would send us scurrying for our dictionaries.... though we were also given opportunities to read out our essays but we were no match for her & this irked us a lot.... & we left no chance to irritate her..... but for all her command over english Tanushree was extremely weak in Maths..... coz of which she could never get a rank .... which gave some consolation to our bruised male egos

Our teachers were Rani mam & Mala mam who taught us English superbly wll, Arvind sir who taught us science ( who can forget his habit of taking off his ring before asking any questions so that it did not hurt that much ... and the impact it created. & if i remember correctly he once called nishant an intelligent fool .. which brought tears to his eyes... well the lad is in US of A these days sir...........) Deepak bhatnagar our legendary maths teacher... for all his harkats here was a teacher who really taught us to love maths.... his challenges always inspired us to work harder & crack the 10th level trigonometry questions in class 8th itself. Remember Anita mam ( the dayan). Well any of us can forget this singing teacher but not Sachin .... the amount of beating he got from her GOD !... though I was also at the receiving end of her karara jhapads .. but nowhere near sachin.... then who can forget Mrs. Sarna... economics & the fun in her class .. where our entire focus was to get punished from her.... the peculair thing about her was that she not only punished the person who was making the mischief but also the person on whom the mischief was being played on... as she firmly believed that there is no smoke without fire..... well there were others too ... Atul sir who was came to teach us chemistry .. when he came we thought that finally we got a good teacher ....... but he turned out to be a wimp.... literally with all his mannerisms .... the cute computer teacher... i don't actually remember her name (help me)

I would say all our teachers were truly fantastic.........

In class 8 we went to Chor Galian for our picnic... incidentally it was my birthday (October 2, if wanna send me a card / flowers/ gifts etc)& i celebrated it by cutting rice which had acquired the shape of the bowl in which it was kept..... We had good fun.....

Sandeep went away in class IX and we gave him a farewell party in Anad restauruant (is that right)....

Tanushree had left in class XIII itself........

There were others too though not in our core group... Sumbul, Chetna, Divya Shukla, Mohan Singh , Roshi ( saxena.. right Sharad/ Sandeep) , Ekta Sharma, Shuch Agarwal, Vivek Agarwal, Viswanath, Rachna, Gurpreet, Humaun.... I don't know where are all these people today but where ever they are I just want to tell them that I had good time with you people....

There is lots more to say.... but then i can go on & on & on.... so I wud stop here & hey why dont you say something.... mail me & I would add it to this .....
